Bowling with Daddy!

Kate got to go with dad to the stake daddy/daughter bowling day and had a lot of fun.

Kate took this picture of daddy.

she looks so grown-up!

Happy Anniversary!

On August 17th Nate and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary! It is hard to believe we have been married that long...but then again we have 4 1/2 kids so I guess it's not that hard to believe! These are the beautiful flowers Nate surprised me with!

We went out to dinner and a musical to celebrate and decided that finishing our basement would be our gift to each other.

First day of Kindergarten

I have been really bad at blogging lately, sorry.

Here is Kate on her first day of school. She went right in and was not scared at all! Mommy got scared however when I went to pick her up from her first day and could not see her among the kids. I told the teacher she was not there and she said she probably got in the bus line. The Principal was standing right there, heard the situation and ran down to stop the bus before it could drive away. Sure enough, my Kate was on the bus thinking she was going on a fieldtrip! I was so glad we got her off before she was taken to who knows where!

Smiles

Two of my cute boys entertaining themselves on a Sunday afternoon...

Bowling with the boys

Our stake had a mother and son bowling day so Marcia and I took our boys.

Eli almost won the game, he was ahead the whole time!

Joseph and Abram

Eli was really cute.

This picture shows Jarom and Cameron too.

We couldn't all fit on one lane so Erin Oliphant was nice to let Isaac and Ammon join them.

Joseph did really well too.

It was a fun afternoon.

Apricots, apricots, apricots

We got some apricots from my sister-in-law this year and I made some jam.

One of my favorite sounds is the sound of the lids popping as they seal. :)

This was my first batch. Later I got some more apricots from my mother-in-law and made some more jam! I also froze some apricots to use in smoothies and blended up the last of them to make chewy juice.

I also made this fresh apricot crumble but it was too tart and nobody really liked it. :(

Finishing the basement

We are finally ready to do it...to finish our basement! We are expecting in October and need the space so we hired a company and they are doing a great job!

This was after the lumber was all done.

This was after insulation.

Back to School

Yesterday was the first day of school!

Isaac is starting 3rd grade, Joseph 2nd, Kate is 5 so she is starting Kindergarten and Eli was trying to make a 2 in this picture.

Big kid Isaac's teacher is Miss Sorenson.

Handsome Joseph's teacher is Mrs. Robert.

Kate is making a K in sign language and has Mrs. Black. (P.S. do you like the outfit she picked out?) I really need to teach her about matching! ;)

Eli wanted to wear his backpack like the other kids and finally made a 2!

Isaac is in the same class as Isaac Oliphant!

Cute Joseph waiting to go inside.

Kate had her assessment and did really well. I was just glad she actually spoke to the teacher!

This is what her teacher gave her when she was all done.

Cub Scout Day Camp

This summer Isaac got to go to Scout Camp.

He was very excited!

He went up two days. The first day was Fort Cub Frontier and the second day was Galaxy Quest. I drove the boys up on the second day and this is what the Galaxy Headquarters looked like.

We had 18 bears and wolves come.

They were a very lively group!

All of the boys came home very, very dirty both days and went straight into the bathtub!

Hello, Dolly!

Herriman has produced the summer musical Hello, Dolly and it's running this weekend.
Nate has really enjoyed learning the dances and songs. The whole cast has worked really hard!
Here are a few pictures to give you a taste...

Our friend, Julie Reed plays Irene Malloy.

Dolly and Horace

They start the show like they do in the movie with everyone frozen in place.

Nate and some of the men singing about the benefits of having a woman in their life! ;)

The parade scene. Nate is a circus performer who juggles.

At the end of the play Nate portrays the judge.

They had a family preview night as a practice for the cast and to make it easier for the families to see the show. I brought the kids to see the play and I think they enjoyed it, especially the treats we got during the intermission. It was good because they got to see Daddy and we didn't have to pay for their tickets.

We have three more shows before it's gone for good. If you want to come and see it for yourself hop onto www.herrriman.org. and buy your tickets, or get them at the door.

We hope to see you there!

Both boys holding up their fingers to show what grade they will be starting.

Now we see Isaac on the last day of Second Grade.

Joseph on the last day of first grade.

Both of my wonderful boys together!

The boys both had wonderful teachers this year and they both improved in their reading and writing and math skills! We are so pleased!

Pinewood Derby

Last night we had our Pinewood Derby.
Isaac raced his car three times and each time it came in 2nd with the other two it was racing.

Overall his car took 12th place.

Matt got 1st, Ethan got 2nd and Chasen got 3rd.

Isaac got an award for the "most colorful."

He was happy about that!

On the way home he said he wanted to start planning his car for next year!
